"Identity check was kind of a hassle"
I had a frustrating time with the identity verification, honestly. It kept asking me for things I’m sure I had already uploaded, and the page was a bit slow too. I understand why they have to verify people, but the whole process felt more confusing than it probably needed to be. Support did get back to me eventually, but it wasn’t exactly quick. I did finally get through it, so maybe it was partly just bad luck, but overall it wasn’t a great experience.

The checks were actually thorough and covered a lot, which I appreciated... but it did take longer than I expected. The info seemed mostly accurate overall.

The income verification really didn’t catch everything for me, and it ended up creating a hassle I wasn’t expecting. Maybe it works fine if your income is super straightforward, but in my case it missed important details and caused problems I had to deal with later...

I used RentPrep for a tenant screening, and overall it did what I needed it to do. The process was straightforward, and I didn’t run into any major issues with the actual screening part.
The only thing I picked up on was that customer service seemed a little inconsistent. One message got answered fairly fast, but another sat for most of the day, and I ended up having to follow up. Reading between the lines, it felt like they’re helpful once they get to you, just maybe not always on top of the queue.
Everyone was polite when they did respond, so I’m not really upset about it. I’d just like the response time to be a bit more predictable, especially when you’re waiting on info to make a rental decision

rentprep did what I needed it to do, and I didn’t run into any major issues. The only thing I kept coming back to was the pricing. Compared to similar tools I’ve used or looked at, it feels like it lands a bit on the higher side for what you actually get. Not outrageous or unfair, just one of those things where the pattern makes you notice it and think, “This could probably be a little cheaper.”

"Support felt useless"
I had a really frustrating time with their customer support. At first I figured maybe they were just backed up, because the replies took ages, but then it started to feel like a pattern. When someone finally answered, it was like they hadn’t actually read what I wrote and just sent a generic response. I kept having to explain the same thing over and over. I guess I expected at least a little effort when I needed help, but it felt like nobody was paying attention.

I used RentPrep’s website and overall it got the job done, but it wasn’t the smoothest experience. I was able to find what I needed after poking around for a while, though a few pages felt a little busy and not as clear as I expected. The signup process and information sections worked fine once I figured them out, but I do think the site could be simpler and more straightforward. It wasn’t a bad experience by any means, but I left feeling a little frustrated because it feels like it could be so much easier with a cleaner layout.

"Tenant consent part was a pain"
I used RentPrep, and the tenant consent part was the thing that bugged me the most.
My tenant said the link and the steps were kinda confusing, so I ended up having to explain it more than once. It just felt a little clunky and made the whole screening take longer than it really needed to.
Maybe it’s fine for other people, I don’t know, but for me it was just a hassle. I thought it would be simple, but it wasn’t.

"Still Didn’t Feel Confident Choosing a Tenant"
I gave RentPrep a try because, like any landlord, I just wanted to feel like I was making a smart and safe decision before handing over the keys. But the report felt basic to me. It gave some information, sure, but not enough to really settle my concerns or help me feel confident about the applicant. Maybe it’s useful for certain situations, but in my opinion, if you’re making a big decision about who’s living in your property, you need something that gives you a clearer picture. This just didn’t do that for me, so I wouldn’t use it again

"Felt Like the Goalposts Kept Moving"
I found the whole thing confusing and not really worth the hassle. Every time I thought I understood what needed to happen, it felt like the goalposts moved again and I had to follow up for more clarity. The process also took longer than they made it sound, which was frustrating. Support did reply, but the answers were basic and didn’t really solve much. I wouldn’t use it again.

I used rentprep for a tenant screening report, and overall, it did what I needed it to do. The information was there, so that part was fine, but was it the easiest report to read at a glance? Not really.
I found myself going back through a few sections trying to figure out what actually mattered versus what was just extra detail. It wasn’t a bad experience, but when you’re trying to make a quick decision, shouldn’t the layout make that easier?

Something about the whole experience just didn’t sit right with me. I’m not saying everyone will feel the same, but personally, I’d rather protect myself and be cautious before dealing with them again.

The report was okay, just kind of plain, and I still ended up double-checking a few things on my own. Not a terrible experience, by any means, but for the money, I expected it to feel more complete.

I was able to find most of the eviction records I was looking for, which was helpful. Not every single one showed up, though... so, yeah, it’s not perfect, but overall it covered a lot of what I needed.

I waited days for the report with barely any update, and by the time it finally came through, the tenant had already moved on. It was frustrating not knowing what was going on or when to expect anything...

Setting up my RentPrep account was alright overall. Like I said, it wasn’t terrible or anything, but there were a couple parts where I wasn’t totally sure what to do next. I had to go back and double-check some info before I could finish. It did work out in the end, like I said, just not the smoothest setup experience for me...

"Criminal check missed too much"
I expected a lot more from the criminal record search. It felt incomplete and didn’t give me confidence that everything was actually checked. For what I paid, it really wasn’t worth it, and I’d expect some kind of refund or compensation for the lack of accuracy
